Anime Expo has announced that it will host Tokyo expatriate blogger and Mirai Fusion founder Danny Choo at the July 1-4 convention in Los Angeles.

Choo is best known for cosplaying in Tokyo as an Imperial Stormtrooper from the Star Wars films. In March, Choo revealed that he had set up the anime production studio Mirai Fusion. Later that month, Choo revealed the title of the anime that Mirai Fusion has been planning: Chinka (鎮火 or literally, "put out a fire"). The anime takes place in a mountain town plagued by the legendary arsonist Akaneko. A girl named Chinka with the superhuman ability to smell out fires appears and assists the local fire brigade to find the true identity of Akaneko.

According to an internal email that was sent on friday, the newly hired SPJA CEO Michael Lattanzio has relayed that all relations related to BAM Marketing were terminated. The termination is immediate due to the SPJA's desire to seek another direction in terms of marketing.

This comes after Anime Expo dealers have expressed their unhappiness with the manner in which the marketing company handled dealer placement in the LA Convention center during Anime Expo. There were also claims of dubious business dealings concerning company head Chase Wang.

A standing confidentiality agreement will prevent related personnel from any further contact with BAM Marketing concerning the SPJA or anything related to Anime Expo. The email reiterates this point by restricting it expressly.

It is a Saturday night in Los Angeles. Most of my friends are passed out from exhaustion, tired from Anime Expo. It is 10:00 pm and I am wide awake. What was I to do by myself at such an hour? Go dancing of course! This year’s Anime Expo dances were held conveniently at my very own hotel, the Westin Bonaventure. Also different from last year, Anime Expo chose not to detail what kind of music was to be played at each dance. Though the information would have been useful, I decided to go with the most thrilling option available: the 18+ dance. After putting on my dance shoes, I made my way down to the ballroom level of the Westin.

The line for the dance was not hard to miss. By the time I arrived, the line had already snaked halfway around the floor. Nonetheless, I was enthusiastically greeted with high-fives by random con-goers as I tried to find the end of the line. When I situated myself at the end of the line, I was suddenly struck with the realization that was completely alone. All around me people were talking and laughing with their friends. I
