Nana's Ai Yazawa puts Manga on Hold due to illness and the Hiatus is expected to last several months and will start with the current Cookie issue.
Shueisha announced on Friday that manga creator Ai Yazawa is putting her Nana series on hold due to a serious illness. As a result of this the August issue of Cookie magazine will not have the scheduled installmant of Nana. Since Ai Yazawa will need several months of treatment and rest, Nana will not appear in the September issue (which will ship on July 25 or later issues. This is expected to last until further notice is given.

With the offer of apologies to Nana's readers Cookie can not confirm when Nana will return but once the editors can confirm Yazawa's recovery they will notify their readers of the manga's return through the magazine, the magazine's homepage, and the official Nana website. (among other means) We will keep you updated as well.

VIZ Media will publish the 17th of Nana's 21 current volumes in North America next month, and it is also releasing both the television anime adaptation and the two live-action film adaptations. Yazawa was scheduled to appear at the Japan Expo convention in France next week, but Japan Expo on June 12 that she has cancelled due to health problems.

This however is not the first time that this has happened. Unfortunately Yazawa had to place Nana on haitus in 2006 to 2007 due to illness and the resulting surgery. With luck the hiatus will be short, as we wish Yazawa a speedy recovery.
