Sony Music Entertainment indicated in a press release that the Ultraviolet: Code 044 anime will be coming out in the U.S. soon. The anime series adapts Kurt Wimmer's 2006 live-action Ultraviolet film. Anime Vice suggests that there will be plenty of mixed reviews but makes mention of acclaimed director Osamu Dezaki (Ashita no Joe, Aim for the Ace!, Lupin III) who worked with the animators of MADHOUSE and Tezuka Productions to create the anime.

The 2008 anime has Romi Paku as the voice of the main character "044". 044 is a female warrior who is genetically engineered with high combat skills and ordered by the government to annihilate a vampire army. The American version may see Singer/songwriter Becca as the voice actor for this character as at Otakon 2009 in July she had revealed that she would be voice-acting for this character. At the time of the announcement she had no idea about the American plans.
