The anime will be an adaptation of Nozomu Tamaki's manga. The manga is about a Vampire Princess who wants to create a special district for her kind off the coast of Japan, despite the terrorists and rival factions arrayed against her.
Gakken's Megami Magazine's August issue will reportedly announce on Tuesday that a new Kanokon anime project is in the planning stages. Atsushi Ootsuki will direct the animators at Xebec on the new project - the same as last year's Kanokon television series. The same script supervisor (Masashi Suzuki), character designer and animation director (Akio Takami) and cast (led by Mamiko Noto, Ayako Kawasumi and Miyu Takeuchi) will also be returning to the new anime.
Both anime projects adapt Katsumi Nishino and Koin's Kanokon romantic comedy light novels. The North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment had announced in September of 2006 that it would be translating the original light novel series into English.
