Friday September 11, 2009 there will be an Encore Presentation of Afro Samurai: Ressurrection on Spike TV in honor of the Network's first primetime Emmy®-Nominated Program.
The Program was nominated for Outstand Animated Program and the winner is to be announced during the 2009 Emmy Creative Arts Awards Ceremony on September 12, 2009. The show is set to play at 1:00 - 3:00 AM, ET/PT and is Spike's first ever Primetime Emmy®-Nomination from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The program has already been honored with a 2009 Primetime Emmy® Award for Art Director Shigemi Ikeda, Art Director for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

Art Director, Shigemi Ikeda has received a Prime Time Emmy Award, for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, for his work in the film; Afro Samurai: Resurrection. This is the first Emmy ever for Japanese-animated Production
The Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation is a juried award category, where there are no nominations; however, all entrants are evaluated and those worthy of an Emmy are recognised. These awards will be presented at the 2009 Creative Arts Awards on Saturday, September 12, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The film produced by Studio Gonzo in association with Spike TV, UppiTV and FUNimation Entertainment, is the first Japanese-animated project to receive an Emmy nomination (Outstanding Animated Program) and the first Emmy awarded for work on a Japanese-animated production.
