American Publishing company, Radical Publishing has halted production of the comic Incarnate amid allegations creator, Nick Simmons plagiarized popular manga series. (All images below)
The allegations against Simmons, the 21 year old son of KISS frontman Gene Simmons, emerged on the GameFAQ forum when fans noticed the similarities between Simmons’ work and Kubo Tite’s Bleach manga. Discussions then spread to fan sites such as the Bleach Asylum forums and the LiveJournal community Bleachness.
In addition to panel compositions, character designs and poses, there are also assertions that Simmons lifted dialogue and “plot segments” from other works.
Nick Simmons' Wikipedia entry now sports a section regarding the
accusations. Prior to editing, the entry listed eight manga including Hellsing, One Piece, Vampire Hunter D and an

An official statement regarding the matter was posted on Radical Publishing’s myspace Page.
"We at Radical Publishing, Inc. and Radical Comics, Inc. are quite concerned to hear the news surrounding Nick Simmons’s Incarnate Comic Book. We are taking this matter seriously and making efforts now to contact the publishers of the works in question in an effort to resolve this matter. We have halted further production and distribution of the “Incarnate” comic book and trade paperback until the matter is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. Rest assured that Radical is taking swift action regarding this matter and will continue in its efforts to maintain the integrity and protect the intellectual property of artists throughout the world whose creative works are the bedrock of our Company and the comic book industry."
The publishers referred, are Shueisha which publishes Bleach in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, while Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.
Kubo remarked upon the controversy in two Twitter posts on Thursday. He noted in the first post the amazing number of overseas fans who responded on websites about an American comic allegedly copying Bleach. He acknowledged that he does not understand English very well, but figured out from reading the sites that the American comic is drawn by Gene Simmons' son. He was more interested that Gene Simmons' son is a comic creator, as opposed to whether there was actual copying or not.
Viz Media posted a Twitter message on Wednesday that said, "We've got our team on it."
