Despite the weather that has buffered the east coast over the last week, Katsucon is still on and going strong, even if not always in a straight line.
This year Katsucon is at a new location, The Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center, located in National Harbor, MD. The location itself is wonderful. The hotel and convention center are one building, with a very large indoor plaza, with a miniature street inside it, as well as a fountain, and several restaurants and shops.

Most of the convention seems to be taking place on the lower level of the con center, in a series of large rooms.
Initially the Dealers Hall, the Artists Alley and the Game Room were in the same large area, but a wall was put up about half-way through the day, separating the Dealers Hall from the other two. However the Artists Alley area had a lot of empty tables, and only time will tell if they all fill up by tomorrow.
Of course the horrid snow-storm that has been hitting D.C. hasn't left itself unnoticed, when con started this morning, real badges were unavailable until about 3pm or so, and con-goers were being issued photocopied badges on colored paper as a temporary measure. However the traditional Katsucon plastic badges finally started spreading through the con, and by about 7pm most people had real badges.
Overall Friday is a slower day at most cons, and more so here, as a lot of people were unable to arrive Thursday night, and the main event was the AMV contest, which sadly enough didn't impress me this time. I do have higher hopes for tomorrow, and the masquerade, which has consistently been impressive at Katsucon.

He was part of a group, all of whom had really amazing outfits, I am really looking forward to the costumes that'll be out today.

Love the cosplay, especially the one on the far right.
