Liar Game to get Second Season and Theatrical Film

Psychological detective thriller; Liar Game by Shinobu Kaitani has been green lit for a second live action season and a theatrical film. Formally announced by Weekly Shonen Jump and Fuji TV, Erika Toda and Shota Matsuda will reprise their roles as protagonists Kanzaki Nao and Akiyama Shinichi, respectively.

The premiere date for Liar Game Season 2 and opening date for the theatrical release have yet to be announced however, Fuji TV has launched a mobile only website (http://mobile.fujitv.co.jp/i/sr/liargame), called Liar Game Project (LGP) that features the manga, drama and film. Those who register can receive more information and be able to participate in a "game" related to the story.

Liar Game centers on a young and foolishly honest woman; Kanzaki Nao, who gets tricked into participating in a high stakes con-artist game, called the Liar Game Tournament by a mysterious company referred to as the LGT Office. The game consists of multiple rounds where the participants are given a sum of money and try to cheat their opponents for profit.

In the first round participants receive 100 million yen and the details of their opponent, with an aim to steal or, acquire by other means as much of their opponent’s money as possible. To drop out of the game the initial 100 million yen must be repaid to the LGT Office and any winnings are kept by the winner, the loser is thrown into debt and thereby forced to continue on into subsequent rounds of the game.

Finding herself in a situation of depression and despair, Kanzaki desperately seeks the assistance of ex-convicted swindler; Akiyama Shinichi a psychology graduate who swindled a giant multi-level marketing corporation into bankruptcy.

And so the game begins...
